Single: Oh Tannenbaum

What inspired you to record a holiday song?

Initially I felt recording a traditional Christmas song on the Imrat guitar would highly appropriate. This is a bridge instrument with ties to the ancient as well as contemporary music forms. Use of the sympathetic and vocal phrasing along with contemporary chordal aspects makes this a perfect choice for the classic O Tennenvaum.

What is your fondest holiday memory as a kid?

Sitting in front of the fireplace watching the flames, staying warm, listening to the occasional Christmas Carolers knock on the door and sing classic carols.

Do you still get excited about seeing gifts under the tree?

It is more the act of giving to children and seeing their excitement.

What was your most favorite surprise?

Meet the Beatles, a guitar and a toy piano with colored keys given to me by my great grandmother.

Do you have any special holiday family traditions you would like to share?

Not anymore …I am usually working thru the holidays …

What is your favorite Christmas/holiday song (that isn’t yours)?

White Christmas

What inspired you to write a Christmas/holiday song?

Doing a trad holiday piece on Imrat guitar has been on the radar for sometime.

What are your fondest musical memories associated with the holiday season?

All the many corporate, private and charity events I participated in over the years. Last quarter used to always be the most lucrative.

In your opinion, what is the all-time best holiday song?

Bing Crosby , burl Ives and frank sinatra were the make vocalists who always seemed to make a lasting impression in the trad pop field. Although I have always been drawn in particular to the Bach chorales, Renaissance Madridcals and certainties lain works by Vivaldi, Mozart and earlier forms of Gregorian chant to really set a Christmas mood.

Do you believe in Santa?

Of course who doesn’t… (Santa/Satan) hmmm …

What message do you want people to hear when they listen to your song?

Joy and spirit if the Christ Light …

What do you enjoy more? Receiving gifts or giving them?

100% giving

What charities do you support?

Pine Ridge reservation and Lakota Law and i perform in homeless shelters when they have availability.

What are your top 5 favorite holiday songs?

White Christmas

Christmas Song

Skating ( Charlie Brown)

Silver Bells

Charlie Brown Christmas Song

Have you ever gotten a lump of coal in your stocking?

Not too sure what that means. Lump of coal could be a good thing  if it is all there is to keep you warm.

Have you been naughty or nice this year?

At peace.
